Keynote Performers: Danza Alegria

Thank you to all of the educators, artists, organizations, and more who helped make this year’s Summer Arts Integration Conference a success!

Last week we hosted Baltimore City educators and education professionals at our annual Summer Arts Integration Conference which aims to provide an inspiring and creative start to the school year. Participants could choose from 19 different sessions to grow their skill set as arts integrationists; this year’s sessions included topics from across grade levels, content areas, and experience levels to better support all educators in walking away with valuable, tangible resources to start their year right! You can learn more about all conference sessions and presenters through our digital conference program. Through a partnership with the Baltimore Children and Youth Fund, we were also able to support stipended attendance for BCYF grantee organizations and independent teaching artists, giving even more individuals the chance to participate in this collective learning experience.

In addition to a variety of sessions, this year’s conference also included two incredible keynotes–first an uplifting collaborative presentation from Jess Solomon, MSOD of Art in Praxis on Day 1, followed by an energizing and joyful dance performance by Baltimore-based folkloric dance group, Danza Alegria on Day 2. Thursday afternoon’s schedule also included our second annual Arts and Cultural Partners Fair, a valuable opportunity for educators to connect with artists and organizations that can bring enriching arts programs to students during the school year. This year’s fair included representation from over 20 Arts and Cultural Partners!

This year’s conference would not have been possible without the care and support of the staff at our host location, Baltimore Design School, and the flexibility and sandwich artistry of our friends at Nancy by SNAC. We are continually grateful for the beautiful and diverse community of support that helps make events like this possible; thank you!
