We’re excited to spotlight The Treasure Box LLC in this year’s Arts and Cultural Spotlight series! Their Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Drama Workshops provide K-12 students with a dynamic platform to grow through character role-play and interactive drama activities. In these workshops, students practice empathy, explore emotions, and develop essential problem-solving and decision-making skills. By role-playing real-life situations, they learn how to navigate conflicts, express themselves, and respect others, creating a supportive environment that fosters self-reflection and personal growth. Group discussions and writing exercises further encourage students to connect meaningfully with these experiences. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on the SEL Drama Workshops!

What can educators expect from the SEL Drama Workshops?

The SEL Drama Workshops for K-12 students use character role-play and interactive drama activities to help students build empathy, understand emotions, practice problem-solving, and make positive choices. Through these activities, students express feelings, work through conflicts, and develop self-respect while learning to respect others. Group discussions and writing exercises will also help students reflect on their experiences and make meaningful connections. The goal of the SEL Drama Workshop is to give students the social and emotional skills they need to succeed in school and in life.

How is this program an arts integration lesson?

The SEL Drama Workshop is an arts integration program because it combines drama and social-emotional learning (SEL) to support students’ overall development. Here, the program uses role-play and drama exercises not only to build acting skills but also to teach students how to handle emotions, solve problems, communicate better, and build positive relationships.

By acting out real-life scenarios and reflecting on their experiences, students get to practice these skills in a fun and interactive way. The creative activities make social and emotional learning (SEL) more relatable and give students a chance to connect with what they’re learning on a deeper level.

Why should teachers and students be excited about SEL Drama Workshops?

Students and teachers will appreciate this program because it helps students to better manage their emotions and encourages positive, respectful behavior in the classroom. Through engaging drama games, activities, and discussions, students strengthen focus, self-control, and teamwork skills. This not only makes learning more enjoyable but also builds a supportive, inclusive environment for everyone.
