The District Budget Priority Engagement Session for Community Stakeholders has now been confirmed on the school website for Thursday, 1/18, 6:30- 7:30pm!  The session gives us the opportunity to raise up those priorities that we believe are most important for our school communities. This is where our presence and input can help shape the district wide budget for School Year 2024-25.

We are asking the fathers, mothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins, friends and neighbors of students who attend schools within the Baltimore City Public School District to attend the district’s virtual budget session, uplift the arts as a priority, and spread the word. Here are 4 arts education talking points to share during the session, if there is an opportunity:

  1. Prioritize the implementation of the Fine Arts Plan 2.0 by making improvements to budget guidance.
  2. Provide comprehensive teacher support to attract new and retain veteran teachers.
  3. Prioritize scheduling that allows students to take courses throughout the school year, every year.
  4. Once a program is established at a school, put safeguards in place to ensure those programs continue even if the principal leaves or the budget changes.
