what is Curate Now?
Curate Now! is a seven week paid program for Baltimore City School juniors and seniors interested in developing skills in galleries, libraries, archives, and museum (GLAM) fields.
Students will have the opportunity to curate their own exhibition centered around Baltimore archives, while building the skills to continue GLAM work.
Through CHARM-led writing workshops, site visits with local museums and archives, and thoughtful collaboration with their peers, students will leave with a toolkit that prepares them in both pursuing and transforming higher education pathways and GLAM careers.
background
In 2016, Arts Every Day founded the 10 x 10 program to provide a space for Baltimore City School students and teachers to creatively engage with topics relevant to them.
From themes spanning “Ceasefire” to “Joy,” hundreds of students have created and displayed their own artistic interpretations in a powerful student show.
High schoolers who apply are paid to curate this show: writing statements, organizing art displays, and even presenting at the opening reception.
In 2025 Arts Every Day won the MSDE’s Public Schools Opportunities Enhancement Professional Learning Program grant to expand the curatorial component into an in-depth summer program: Curate Now! Youth Voices in Art + Archives.
