Featuring Groovy Nate®, a multi-dimensional performance and teaching artist who creates exciting educational shows and workshops, using funky grooves played on his loop station, electric guitar, exotic musical instruments such as the mouth bow, talking drums, and kitchen utensils; laced with puppet skits, comedy, and creative play— a la Sesame Street meets Parliament/Funkadelic. Groovy Nate performs at birthday parties, school assemblies, adult day healthcare centers and assisted living facilities, summer camps, hospitals, libraries, and indoor/outdoor public events.

Groovy Nate offers a fusion of music, puppetry, and comedy, creating a dynamic, theatrical experience rather than a typical singalong. His shows bring elements of African American musical heritage—funk, hip-hop, go-go, techno, afrobeat, and soul—into an educational, family-friendly setting. Lastly, Groovy Nate presents authentic Black artistry in early childhood music which is still rare in many community programs.
Is there a particular program you’d like to highlight? What makes it special?
The music in Groovy Nate’s school assembly performance is unique and eclectic, using Funk music as the foundation and reference. Teachers and students also enjoy the highly interactive elements, making everyone feel they’re part of the show rather than just watching a music concert. Vibrant, grooving, and ever changing, Groovy Nate’s shows will take the entire audience on a hip imaginary field trip, and bringing them back safe and sound filled with inspiration.
