My last school program visit of the school year was a great one–I was delighted to get to join students at Patterson High for part of their residency with master screen painter, John Iampieri! John’s work honors and upholds Baltimore’s own 100-year old folk art tradition of screen painting.
During a previous year’s residency, John collaborated with students to create larger-scale legacy screens. This year, students in Ms. Marchewka’s and Ms. Holter’s classes each created their own individual screens depicting atmospheric landscapes using tints and shades.
Despite being almost the end of the school year, students were all incredibly engaged in creating their pieces. It was great to watch John work with students and collaborate with Ms. Marchewka and Ms. Holter to support student success.
John’s programs are suitable for learners at a variety of ages and with a variety of curricular connections! Learn more about his programs and how to book with him by checking out his directory page, and check out more of his own incredible paintings on his website!
