Arts-based Strategies for Supporting Queer Students

April 18 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Please join AED and The Walters Museum for an in-person educator professional development: “Arts-based Strategies for Supporting Queer Students” presented by Weiwen Balter of The Walters Art Museum. This PD will build awareness around Queer identities, explore strategies for cross-community dialogue, and use a hands-on art-making activity to demonstrate SEL skills for students coping with societal stressors. This session is intended for middle and high school teachers. Participants will walk away with knowledge on how to engage students in discussion across social identities, and how to use art to assist Queer students in building coping skills.

Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is capped at 30 educators due to space. This workshop is geared towards middle and high school educators, though educators of all grade levels are welcome.
