DESCRIPTION:Session 3 Topics:\n– Student Learning Outcomes\, Assessment\, and Adjudications\n– Advocating for your Needs \nWe are thrilled to open up the fellowship to early career arts teachers across all disciplines! In partnership with the Office of Fine Arts and Arts for Learning Maryland\, teachers in their 1st through 3rd years of teaching are encouraged to join us for 4 Saturday sessions designed to support your teaching practices and connect you to peer and mentor arts teachers. Childcare\, coffee and lunch will be provided at each session. Due to grant restrictions\, stipends are available to music teachers only. \nEligibility: \n– Must be a certified or conditionally certified teacher in your 1st through 3rd year of teaching at Baltimore City Public School\n– Attend all in-person meetings\n– Communicate with your mentor on a consistent basis\n– Bring a growth mindset and a willingness to connect and build community \nParticipating teachers receive: \n$600 stipend for Music teachers only (payable in 4\, $150 increments following each session)\nQuarterly Saturday sessions focused on building skill and pedagogy\nVirtual check-ins/office hours\nClassroom observation\nMentorship\nPriority consideration for the Arts Every Day Equipment Fund: funding for music equipment/instrument requests of up to $5\,000\nPriority consideration for the Arts for Learning Funding: funding to subsidize teaching artist residencies\, assemblies\, professional development

Just in time to start planning for winter events\, “Turning Your Winter Visual and Performing Arts Showcases Into Advocacy Opportunities\,” will be presented in partnership with Rachel McGrain\, Executive Director of Arts Education in Maryland Schools\, on October 27th from 4-4:45pm. In this session\, we will explore AEMS’ “Showtime Advocacy for Arts Educators” toolkit and participants will have time to collaboratively envision and troubleshoot how this toolkit can best be applied by educators in Baltimore City Public Schools.
