On October 6th, 2017 Arts Every Day (AED) partnered with Baltimore International Black Film Festival (BIBFF) to showcase youth talent in media arts across Baltimore City. Arts Every Day premiered two films produced by Wide Angle Youth Media. Our School highlighting the impact of the arts and arts integration on students and the community of Gilmor Elementary School. There was hardly a dry eye in the room as the audience watched In Our Shoes a film that explored life and emotions through the eyes of students in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program at Gwynns Falls Elementary. Wide Angle Youth Media screened four films, The Switch, After Freddie Gray: What Now?, The Robot Thief, and Baltimore Through Our Eyes. Independent Filmmaker, Will Mitchell screened his film, Self Worth, which explores the affects of bullying and how to show kindness to others. Light City Teen Scholars encouraged students to speak up for their schools in the film WAKE UP! An Educational Dream. Get Your Life! Productions wrapped up the night with their spooky film The Real Artists of Get Your Life – Halloween Special.
At the end of the night BIBFF awarded Will Mitchell and Wide Angle Youth Media with the BIBFF Jury’s Choice Award. Arts Every Day’s collaboration with Gwynns Falls Elementary also won the Audience Choice award. Congratulations to all the students for your hard work and amazing films!
