Step Into Broadway: An Immersive Dance Experience (Grade 6th-12th; Families)
The Treasure Box brings the magic of Broadway to life through an interactive performance workshop that engages students in the world of musical theatre. This three-part experience begins with a high-energy dance performance by Marcus John, a Broadway actor from Maryland who has toured globally with Broadway’s “Hamilton”, “Mama Mia”, and “Rent” productions. Following the performance, Marcus shares his journey in theatre, offering students a glimpse behind the curtain. Students then learn a Broadway dance number themselves and showcase their new skills in a fun, hands-on performance. The experience concludes with a lively Q&A discussion, allowing students to explore the world of professional theatre and ask questions about careers on stage.
What Students Experience:
- Live Broadway Performance: Watch a short, high-energy dance performance by Marcus John.
- Behind-the-Scenes Insight: Learn about Marcus’s journey in theatre and the realities of performing professionally.
- Hands-On Dance Instruction: Students learn a Broadway dance number and get to perform it themselves.
- Interactive Q&A: Engage in a discussion about theatre, performance, and pursuing a career in the arts.
- Confidence & Collaboration: Build teamwork, stage presence, and self-expression in a fun, supportive environment.
This performance workshop is perfect for arts integration, career day events, family engagement events, school assemblies and more.
