Arts Every Day is pleased to announce the 2016 Student Art Showcase on display from April 26th through May 1st in the Sculpture Court of The Walters Art Museum.  The exhibition features over 100 works of art created by Baltimore City Public School students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grades from across the city.

PHS3

This annual exhibit showcases how teachers integrate visual arts, music, dance, theater, and media across grade levels and subject matter such as Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. For example, the “The Circle of Creativity Group Weaving” from Patterson High School was an English and Arts collaborative project that involved seventy 10th grade english students. Led by English teacher Ms. Graham and art teacher/arts integration coach Ms. Holter, the project explored the concepts of community and identity.

For the first time ever, teachers will also showcase their work along with students. Teacher work includes photography, paintings, and drawings. In true collaborative fashion, the integral relationship between teacher and student learning will be shown and celebrated.

On Thursday, April 28th from 6-8 p.m. Arts Every Day will host a reception for its annual student art show at the Walters Art Museum.  The reception will be emceed by Station North’s own Kevin Brown. Below is the program for the event which will include student poetry readings, dance performances, and musical selections.

This event is the second installment of Arts Every Day’s 10th anniversary celebration series and is free and open to the public. RSVP at https://aedstudentartshow.eventbrite.com.
